Comments More than 3,200 had been imported. Established in Kauai and Oahu islands. As effective as the native Hawaiian anchovy, the nehu (Stolephorus purpureus), in luring and maintaining the tuna at the stern of the vessel and in the catch rate. A further 3,000 were reintroduced in 1959 from the same source and were released in Kauai, Oahu and Maui (Ref. 6362 and 13364). Of negligible economic importance where it has naturalized.
